Warranty & Firmware Policy
Built to be opened, repaired, and tinkered with.
TiltForge is built to be opened, repaired, and tinkered with — that's the whole point. This policy keeps that promise while being clear about what we can and can't stand behind.
What's covered
Assembled & Electronics units (pre-built / pre-flashed)
We provide a 90-day limited warranty against defects in our workmanship and components — dead-on-arrival units, manufacturing defects, or a component that fails under normal use within 90 days of delivery. If that happens, we'll replace the defective part or unit.
This covers the hardware as we shipped it, running TiltForge firmware.
Maker kits, STL packs & self-assembled parts
These are sold as components, as-is. Because we didn't assemble or install them, we can't warrant how the finished build performs. Individual parts that arrive physically defective can still be replaced — but assembly, calibration, and fit are yours to own.
Firmware & the socket
The XIAO module is socketed on purpose: you can pop it out, flash your own firmware (ESPHome, custom builds, anything), and put it back. This is supported and encouraged.
Two things to know once you flash non-TiltForge firmware:
- +We can't warrant firmware behavior we didn't write. If a custom flash doesn't work the way you expect, that's outside what we can guarantee.
- +We can't provide support for custom setups. We're a small team and can't debug individual ESPHome configs, custom code, or third-party integrations.
A genuine hardware defect (a physically bad board) is still covered within the 90-day window, regardless of what firmware is on it.
Stuck? The reflash-to-stock reset
Before we can help with anything, the first step is always the same:
Flash the stock TiltForge firmware and confirm the problem still happens.
We publish the stock firmware binary for exactly this. It tells us — and you — which side the problem is on:
- +Stock firmware fixes it → the issue was in the custom firmware or setup. You've got a working device again.
- +Stock firmware still fails → it may be hardware. If you're inside the 90-day window, reach out and we'll take a look.
This keeps things fair: we're not asking anyone to prove what went wrong, and we're not stuck diagnosing setups we can't see.
What's not covered
- —Damage from misuse, wiring mistakes, over-voltage, water, or physical abuse.
- —Wear on consumable/printed parts beyond normal use.
- —Any warranty of firmware behavior on non-TiltForge firmware.
- —Support for custom firmware, custom code, or third-party integrations.
How to make a claim
Reach out through [your support channel]. Include your order reference, the SKU, what's happening, and — if firmware-related — confirmation that you've tried the reflash-to-stock step above. We handle support async, so please allow a few days for a reply.
TiltForge — every single part, repairable by design.
